img_gallery_b_03A few days ago, Samsung presented the new Galaxy S IV in New York and it was exactly as expected, a hardware madness. Every piece of the Galaxy S3 was taken to the next level. However Samsung announced that it will launch the device in two variants: one that will use the 1.9 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor and one that will use the 1.6 GHz eight-core processor Samsung Exynos 5 Octa.We decided to compare the two processors used in the Samsung Galaxy S4 to see which one is the best one and which one is the weaker one. Basically you will want to have the best processor under your Galaxy S4 hood and for now we know that the Snapdragon 600 will probably be used in the US and the Exynos 5 Octa in the international version. Hopefully we will be able to say which processor used in the two versions of the Galaxy S4 is better.Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 vs. Samsung Exynos 5 OctaThe Snapdragon 600, unveiled earlier this year, runs at a 1.9 GHz speed and focuses on increased performance, fast web browsing seamless connectivity and in the same time increase the battery running time. The Adreno™ GPU offers high quality 3D graphics, the Multithreaded Hexagon™ DSP provides ultra low power applications, the battery life is preserved with the multimedia subsystem. The User experience with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 is high-end. You can capture videos at 1080p HD, take 21 MP 3D photos, play high-end 3D multiplayer online games and much more. The Quad-core CPU allows for advanced multitasking and the LP-DDR3 memory allows for high performance at low latency. The GPU delivers support for OpenGL ES 3.0, DirectX, OpenCL, FlexRender™ and so on.The Qualcomm Quick Charge 1.0 provides up to 40% faster battery charging and it also includes the newest generation of mobile WiFi connectivity 802.11 ac.Meanwhile, the Exynos 5 Octa CPU is made out of 2 sets of four-core CPUs each. This makes it an eight core processor, working on the basis of the ARM Cortex A15 architecture. Its main feature is the fact that it can run intense apps and in the same time it can also preserve energy becoming more power efficient while running low end apps. It combines perfectly the 1.6 GHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A15 and the 1.2 GHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 (ARMbig.LITTLE), the first one being responsible for high demanding apps and the second on for power efficiency. Samsung said that this technology will cut almost 70% of the power consumption compared to the Exynos 5 Dual chip.At first sight, we can say that the Exynos 5 Octa CPU, presumably used for the International version of the Galaxy S4, is more efficient than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 that Samsung probably will use for the US version of the Galaxy S4.
