Samsung's US advertising agency has been very effective over the years in positioning the iPhone as outdated and second-best compared to Samsung's flagship devices. From ads that paint iPhone users as mindless hipsters ("I'm creative"), or making fun of the minor tweaks that often comprise new iPhone releases ("The headphone jack is going to on the bottom!") to ones that position the iPhone as a device for old folks, the ads are humorous, and contain at least a grain of truth. Now they're doing it again. Samsung's latest TV ad pokes fun at the iPhone's inferior battery life compared to recent Samsung's flagship phones, and the iPhone's lack of a removable battery. Referring to iPhone users as "wall huggers," the ad shows scenes of iPhone users clustering around electrical outlets in airports and bathrooms, trying to keep their phones running. If internet forum traffic is any guide, battery life is an important factor for a great many smartphone users, and current iPhones suffer in comparison to the S5, Note 3 and other Android phones. Recent tests show the iPhone faring poorly in comparison to current Android phones in both call time and internet usage. The Samsung ad is above this post. Have a look, and a laugh.
